The Team

Chuck Denison, PhD

Aviation and Forensic Neuropsychologist

I am a psychologist, aircraft owner and avid pilot. I graduated from the University of Denver with two graduate degrees in psychology in 1990 and 1994. My specialty practices are in aviation neuropsychology and forensic psychology. My primary office location is in Broomfield, Colorado, where our suite overlooks the Flatiron Mountains and the runways of Rocky Mountain Metro Airport (KBJC).

I maintain my ongoing education in aviation psychology and neuropsychological testing through the HIMS program and the annual aeromedical psychology conference. I administer the CogScreen-Aeromedical Edition test to pilots who seek renewals of their Special Issuance, and provide virtually every type of psychological and neuropsychological evaluation required by the FAA. I provide forensic consultation to attorneys working on aviation-related legal cases. I am also a certified human factors analyst.

My aviation activities are focused on "bush flying" and backcountry operations. I am a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the National Business Aviation Association, the Experimental Aviation Association, the Recreational Aviation Foundation, and four other state pilots' associations in the western US. I am a certified to provide introductory Young Eagles flights through EAA, and served as President of the Laramie Flying Club from 2016 to 2019.

Susan Shwartz, PhD, ABPP-CN

Aviation Neuropsychologist

I am a board-certified neuropsychologist with extensive training under one of the original neuropsychologist consultants to the FAA. Prior to relocating to Colorado in 2024 to join Aviation Psychology, LLC, I established an aviation neuropsychological practice in Atlanta. Understanding that the issues bringing you to Aviation Psychology, LLC may be complex and challenging, my mission is to ensure your experience with us is seamless and pleasant, while delivering exceptional expertise and service.

My primary office location is the one at Centennial Airport (KAPA), one of the busiest general aviation airports in the US. We are on the south side of Denver with a beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains to the west.

Bodwin Denison

Office Manager

Bodwin Denison has 30 years of experience in the business offices of schools, from elementary to graduate institutions.  She was the school secretary of Beitel Elementary in Laramie, Wyoming for 15 years before she finally agreed to semi-retire to the world of aviation psychology.  Bodwin is our case manager and often the first kind voice that pilots will encounter when calling our office.  She helps every new pilot compile and organize the documents that will lead to a more effective representation of your case to the FAA for medical certification!
