Other Practical Information
It is important for you to know that aeromedical examinations may be likened to "fitness for duty" evaluations. Therefore, they are not usually billable to health insurance companies. During your initial consultation -- which is a free service to you -- we will go over the procedures and costs in detail. The cost of an evaluation or HIMS-program service will vary based on the Specifications sheet provided by the FAA for your specific evaluation.
The Special Issuance
of medical certification may be the pilot's goal. If so, Aviation Psychology, LLC will help the pilot clarify what is reasonable and required to fulfill the requirements for consideration, based on your specific psychological or medical condition.
For aviators who are rehabilitating from a substance use disorder, the process should be focused on genuine recovery, health and pilot performance -- as opposed to trying to make the process into simply another checklist. Aviation Psychology will help to ensure that pilots meet both the letter and spirit of the FAA requirements for the mental health performance protocol.
If a substance abuse recovery program is a part of the pilot's special issuance, testing and monitoring (urine analysis) will be required. Aviation Psychology, LLC can assist the pilot in making this a straightforward process by coordinating substance testing with laboratories near your home or workplace.
